| I begin a portrait by taking many single black and white candid images from which to choose. Each artwork is customized to color. Please read my artist statement under the Profile Chapter to learn more about how I express my ideas and feelings.
The subjects of portrait commissions I have completed range from family groups, nudes, corporate portraits, pets, horses and more! Sizes range from 5”x7” to 40”x65” and always hand printed and painted on fiber paper. One can order more than one variation of the original, providing it is ordered at the same time of the original order. All variations are one of a kind because each is made by hand.
The artwork may include your own photographs, including ancestors or photographs of far away trips.
One of my photographic painting portraits of children was the cover art on the program for a benefit for St. Mary’s Foundation for Children in New York. The baby portrait shown here was included in the Johnson & Johnson mural series.
While still young, I wanted to create my fantasy self-portrait which includes my favorite subjects and issues including Egyptian art, ballet and ecology. Another style of portraits that is popular is my abstract portrait style which I received a grant from the Tampa Arts Council of Florida. The idea is our soul is ageless, by showing the spirit of the person through the facial features, supported by one’s favorite landscape, seascape, etc. I can do portraits that make one look 20 years younger too! |
